About
A cybersecurity firm built for the way rural businesses actually work.
Peace Country Cyber Inc. is a managed cybersecurity and IT services provider based in La Crete, Alberta. We serve businesses across Mackenzie County and the broader Peace River region — Fort Vermilion, High Level, Rainbow Lake, Peace River, and the surrounding hamlets and colonies.
We were built around an observation that has been true for years and is becoming more painful by the month: Edmonton MSPs treat northern Alberta as a second-tier market, and the local IT shops that do exist are mostly oriented around break/fix work — not the proactive cybersecurity management that modern cyber-insurance carriers, modern threat patterns, and modern business operations require.
The result is that businesses out here pay more, wait longer, and get less than they deserve. The bar for “adequate” cybersecurity keeps rising — managed EDR is now a baseline, MFA is non-negotiable, tested immutable backups are required for ransomware coverage, monthly phishing simulation is increasingly expected — and the gap between what's expected and what's delivered locally has been widening for at least three years.
We exist to close that gap.
Who we are
Dylan Hewitt is the founder and operator. Before Peace Country Cyber he spent the better part of a decade in senior IT and cybersecurity roles, including two years operating at a managed services provider in central Alberta. He holds active cybersecurity certifications and continues to publish on the CosmicBytez Labs cybersecurity blog.
His family has roots in La Crete going back to before this was Mackenzie County. He's moving the business home not because the market analysis said so, but because the place did.
What we value
Local
We live here. Kids in the same school as yours. Onsite Saturday mornings. Plain English on the phone. There's no head office to escalate to — there's us, working the same hours as you do.
Transparent
Published rate card. No mystery fees. No surprise renewal price increases. Net 15 invoicing. Quarterly business reviews where we share the numbers, not just the wins.
Honest
If we can't help, we'll tell you who can. If our recommendation costs more than it's worth for your business, we'll say so. If we mess something up, we'll fix it and tell you what we changed so it doesn't happen again.
Boring
Cybersecurity isn't exciting — it's a steady professional practice. We're not interested in the latest AI-buzzword-of-the-week. We're interested in whether MFA is actually enforced, whether your backups actually restore, whether your team would actually catch a phishing email. The boring fundamentals are what keep businesses out of the news.
Where we work
Service area is northern Alberta, centred on Mackenzie County:
Most engagement is remote — RMM, EDR, M365 administration — with onsite visits scheduled on Saturday mornings or as needed for projects. If your business is outside this area, get in touch anyway. Edge cases are sometimes a fit.
